Energy Efficient Spray Foam Insulation
When homeowners think of home, they imagine warmth, safety and family. They may not equate energy efficiency with that vision, but it can be a big part of a home’s value and comfort. The team at TCS Insulation & Coatings can help realize that vision by transforming your home with state-of-the-art energy saving insulation.
TCS Insulation & Coatings is made up of tiny pockets (called cells) that make it difficult for heat energy or sound to pass through. When sprayed, it expands to fill the space, creating a strong air barrier that helps make your home more comfortable and efficient. It is particularly effective in attics, basement rim joists, crawl spaces and hard-to-reach areas like knee walls and bonus rooms.
There are two types of spray foam insulation — open and closed cell. Open cell is a softer, more flexable material because the cells aren’t fully encapsulated. Closed cell is firmer and more rigid because the cells are pressed together.
How Spray Foam Insulation from TCS Insulation & Coatings Lowers Energy Costs
The first step in spray foam installation is prepping the area for application. This typically involves removing any existing insulation and cleaning the surface to be sprayed. Then, the sprayer will apply a coating of chemical mixture to the surface. The chemicals will react to create the foam.
After the spray foam insulation has been applied, it can be sanded and painted. Most insulation professionals will use a low-VOC paint that has a low amount of off-gassing and quick re-occupancy time. In addition, some spray foam insulation can be coated with a fire-proof chemical for additional safety and security.
